Nestled within a woodland setting beside the River Sheaf lies a family home that has the potential to become a stunning haven for the family to escape to.
Keenan Architecture were commissioned to take a holistic approach to the design, considering both the house and garden together and proposing solutions that would make the most of its idyllic setting whilst providing the additional space the family needed.
The proposal introduces a new open-plan kitchen within a single-storey side extension positioned close to the south-facing garden, maximising natural daylight and strengthening the connection between inside and out. The family often hosts friends and family so it was important to provide the flexibility needed for both large family gatherings and everyday life. A separate utility room adjoining the kitchen offers a practical and discreet space for kitchen prep.
Improving the sense of arrival was another key aspiration for the client. A new entrance extension creates a generous and welcoming approach to the house, incorporating a connected boot room and bringing additional natural light into the entrance spaces to enhance first impression of the home.
The scheme also includes the conversion of the existing garage to provide a dedicated home office and an occasional guest bedroom, adding valuable flexibility for modern family living.
